| Discuss Engineering in the UK Almost as important as the academic advantages of an international education are the chances it offers to experience life abroad. The same goes with Engineering also. Quite simply, there is no better environment for Indian students to take control of their future…and be the best they can be. An international education in the UK or USA has always placed great importance on the ability of students to work independently and to develop their own thinking.
The end result is that students emerge from an international education not only with a thorough understanding of their subject but also with analytical abilities and problem-solving skills that are much prized by employers in later life.
All Engineering degrees usually include basic subjects such as engineering science, mathematics , computing, design principles, materials and finance. It is possible to study a general engineering degrees and then specialized or go straight in to a specialist degree. specialized degrees cover areas such as acoustics, communications, aerospace, control, power, computing, prosthetics, ship and marine, electronic audio, mining and areas connected to construction engineering such as civil and environmental services and construction.
The duration of the course last from 3 to 5 years and lead to a BSc, BEng and MEng. MEng degree usually lasts for 4 or 5 years and covers management training. It was created to provide engineers with the skills needed to manage projects and staff. Only high achieving students are eligible for MEng.
Higher National Diploma or HND is available in specialist areas of engineering. They last 2 or 3 years and lead to engineering technicians careers. These courses have a heavy emphasis on project works with necessary lectures and seminars.
Engineering subjects are also available on modular degrees. Some degree count towards professional qualifications awarded by certain professional organisations like The Institution of mechanical engineers and The Institution of electrical engineers.
